Acoustic Emission NDE
Acoustic Emission is the phenomenon of generation of transient elastic waves due to rapid release of strain energy caused by structural alterations within a material. It is classified as a passive NDE technique and probably the only technique that is applicable for real-time, in-situ assessment of damage with the capability to predict and guard against failure and its growth.
