Similarity based stability and control clearance for stores integrated on to frontline fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force
The objective is to ensure aeromechanical clearance for the integration of new stores on a frontline fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force. Carriage and operating envelopes such as airspeed/Mach number, maneuver load factors, and jettison deployment envelopes are to be determined and certified for all the new stores configurations. Thus it is necessary to carry out the Stability and Control (S&C) studies of all these new configurations within the carriage and handling envelope without impacting the existing control laws. The particular challenge here was to complete this task with minimal clearance efforts. A similarity-based comparative analysis and a geometry-based critical assessment analysis was successfully used in this work. The grouping of all store configurations based on similarity helped in achieving Stability and Control clearance for Carriage and Handling with minimal efforts. This has resulted in lot of saving in time and effort.
