ROTARY ENGINES AND CERAMICS APPLICATION LABORATORY (RECAL)

Rotary Engines and Ceramics Application Laboratory (RECAL)

RECAL is associated with the design, development and testing of power plants for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This laboratory can design and develop Wankel Rotary Combustion engine of 1 to 120 hp power range. The facility has successfully developed and flight tested a 55 hp Wankel engine for DRDO’s tactical UAV. Further this engine has been airworthiness certified by CEMILAC. Presently, this facility is involved in the development of a 65 hp Wankel rotary engine for an upgraded UAV of DRDO. The spin-off  Wankel engine versions are being adapted for other applications like compact generator, out-board motor, powered hang glider, boats and hybrid vehicles.
