MANABENDRA MANINDRAKUMAR DE

Dr. Manabendra M De holds a B. E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Gujarat University, M.Tech Degree with specialization in Turbomachines from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from IGNOU & WIPO, and PhD degree in Applied Mechanics – Computational Fluid Dynamics from IIT Madras.

            He joined CSIR-NAL in 2006 as Junior Scientist in Wind Energy Division. At present, he is serving as Principal Scientist in System Engineering Division. He also holds an Honorary Asst. Professorship in Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi. His research areas include Wind Turbines and Wind-Solar Hybrid Systems, Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics, Systems Engineering of Aerial platforms of different configurations, Quality Control aspects of Composite Fabrication, AS9100 Certification, and Intellectual Property Rights.

            He serves as a subject expert in various International and National committees. Few of them are the Wind Energy Generation Systems – Part 5 : Wind turbine blades, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Geneva, Switzerland, Wind Turbine Sectional Committee (ETD 42), Electrotechnical Department, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Government of India , Advisory Committee, Mechanical Engineering Department, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat .

He also offers service as Reviewer for many peer reviewed international journals like American Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Resource Efficient Technologies Journal, and CEAS Aeronautical Journal. He has served as reviewer for international and national conferences like GTIndia 2021, GT2023 and ACFD 2023. He is a life member of International and National professional societies like ISAMPE, SESI, ISTAM, ISWE, NSFMFP, ISAM and IAENG. He also engages in organizing national and international conference jointly with Academic Institutions and Research laboratories of DRDO & DoS.

                 He has over 30 publications in national and international SCI journals and conferences. He has written popular articles for national and in-house Hindi magazines. He has been granted 2 patents in India in the field of Renewable Energy (Wind turbines) and Flapping wing aerial platform. He has supervised thesis of more than 15 M.Tech, B.E. and Diploma students. He has served as examiner of Ph.D and M.Tech theses of prestigious engineering institutions across India. He has delivered invited talks at Faculty Development Programs, Workshops and Seminars organized by engineering colleges PAN India.

                 He has been honoured with accolades for his professional excellency. Prominent among them are the Distinguished Alumni Award (from CKPCET, Gujarat) received from Hon. Shri Ram Nath Kovind (Former President of India), Best Innovation Award (CSIR-NAL), and Best Divisional Representative – Official Language for the year 2023-24 (CSIR-NAL).
