Flow Visualisation
- Colour and B/W schlieren & Shadowgraphy
- Surface flow visualisation using oil flow techniques
- Video and still photography
- High speed schlieren
1. Schlieren/Shadowgraphy
The word Schlieren comes from German, it means discernible layers in a transparent material that differs from the surrounding material in density or composition. Schlieren photography is based on the physical phenomena of light rays that are bent whenever they encounter changes in density of a fluid. Schlieren systems are used to visualize the flow away from the surface of an object.
2. Oil Flow Visualization
Surface oil flow images give details of flow topology such as attached flow, separated flow, existence of vortex and shocks.
