M. Sujata is a Chief Scientist in the Materials Science Division of the National Aerospace Laboratories, She has obtained her B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam (1989), and M. Tech (1991) and Ph.D (1996) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. During her doctoral and post-doctoral research, she had worked in the field of titanium alloys and intermetallics. She had worked at the Foundry & Forge division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore during 1999 to 2002. During her professional career at HAL, she had contributed in indigenization of various aerospace materials for defence applications. At CSIR-NAL, she has been working in the area of failure analysis and accident investigation for the past fifteen years. She is also associated with qualification of metallic materials related to aircraft programmes of the laboratory for DGCA, DGAQA and CEMILAC certification.
