I joined NAL as Research fellow in 1991 and went onto become Scienitst B in 1996. Presently I am working as Principal Scientist in the Computational and Theoretical Fluid Dynamics Division of NAL. Prior to joining NAL, I completed by B. E. in Chemical Engineering in 1989 followed by M. Tech. in System Analysis and Computer Applications in 1991 at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, Mangalore.
My research interests include Object Oriented Programming, Graphical Visualization for Scientific applications, Software Engineering and CFD Scientific code development. My technical skills include Object Oriented Programming, Programming in Fortran, C and C++, Window based applications, Graphical Interface development. I have wide exposure in various programming languages and have mostly used them for scientific applications.
I am currently working towards application of Steady and Unsteady Panel Method (NPM, UPM codes) for inviscid flow problems. I have carried out design of new airfoils for turbine blade sections using the Eppler code under the project - Development of low speed 500 kW wind turbine (NMITLI). I was also responsible for code design and implementation of a least square based scheme for interpolation of 3D structured block data. I have made some important contributions to NAL’s Varsha (weather prediction code) by developing Flowgraphs for the entire code and re-engineer using C++.
I have visited DLR’s (German Aerospace Research Center) Fluid Mechanics Institute at G¨ottingen from October 1997 to April 1998 as part of a collaboration program between DLR and NAL. I also visited Hong Kong from 10-14 Jan 2010 to present a paper entitled “Viscous Inviscid Interactive Studies on an NLF Wing for New Generation Regional Transport Aircraft,” at 8th Asian Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference (ACFD 8), Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
I have handled various projects students from B. E., MCA and M. Tech fields.
I am a member of the Aeronautical Society of India, Indian Academy for Mathematical Modeling and Simulation (IAMMS) Bangalore, India and Indian Science Congress Association.
