Prashanth Ramanathan is a Senior Scientist in the Centre for Civil Aircraft Design and Development (C-CADD) at CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL), Bangalore. He holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Madras. He has joined CSIR-NAL in 2006 and has been part of all the major civil aviation programmes of the lab viz., SARAS, HANSA and CNM5. He has been working in the field of Aircraft Structural Design and Mechanical Flight Control Systems. He has worked extensively on the design and analysis of both metallic and composite structures using finite element techniques. He has played a vital role in the weight optimization activities carried out on SARAS aircraft.
More recently, he has made significant contributions towards improvement of mechanical flight controls in SARAS aircraft. He is also involved in the SARAS flight testing activities by representing airframe, mechanical flight controls, mass & cg, etc. In addition, he is a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for stress analysis of CNM5 aircraft.
