Kapil Sachan
SCIENTIST

Dr. Kapil Sachan is working in the Flight Mechanics Control Division of CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) since 2019. He has completed Masters and Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis on control system theory and design from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He works on both theoretical as well as applied research, which includes Guidance & control of aircraft and space vehicles,  Linear and nonlinear adaptive control, Optimal control, and Safety-constrained adaptive control. He has published his research work in various international journals and conferences.

Dr. Kapil is working on the development of flight control law for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). He has also worked on the control design of Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA-90 Seater Aircraft). Before joining NAL, he has carried out state-of-the-art research in the area of hypersonic vehicle control (sponsored by Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), USA through AOARD) and precise lunar soft landing control (sponsored by ISRO, India). Professionally, Dr. Kapil is involved in numerous activities. He is serving as a Reviewer for many prestigious journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems, IEEE Access, IFAC Mechatronics, and International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, etc., and conferences, such as AIAA-GNC, IFAC-WC, IFAC-ACDOS, IEEE-ICARCV, etc.
