Mr. Dattatraya S Kulkarni currently working as a Senior Principal Scientist in Computational and Theoretical Fluid Dynamics Division, joined the CSIR-NAL in the year 2001. He obtained Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Gulbarga University in 1998 and M. Tech in Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur in the year 2007. Presently pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
His research is majorly focussed on - Turbulence Modelling and Transition Modelling for Incompressible flows (External Flows), Large Eddy Simulation(LES)
He has contributed in implementation of different Turbulence and Transition Models in the in-house flow solution code 3D-PURLES as a part of various Sponsored/Grant-in-Aid/In-house projects. He also contributed in the CFD analysis of turbulent flow around Bow mounted Sonar Dome and 150mm Fixed Wing Micro Air Vehicles.
He has published about 28 research papers in various Journals, National and International Conference Proceedings. He received the First “IEI Young Engineer Award “in Aerospace Engineering discipline by Institution of Engineers India in the year 2008. He is a Life member of Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), Indian Science Congress (ISC) and National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power (NSFMFP).
