PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST


Manyam Kothapalli S R S did his Bachelor of Technology (Mechanical Engineering), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad and Master of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, INDIA. He is working as Principal Scientist in Quality Assurance and Airworthiness Division of CSIR-NAL. He is the Group Head for Quality Control, Civil Aviation Programme (CAP). He is actively involved in HANSA and SARAS projects.  He is also Approved Manager Responsible (Quality Control) for HANSA project, CSIR-NAL, Approved Deputy Chief of Quality for SARAS PT1N from DGAQA.  As a Member Convener he conducts the Defect Investigation (DI) along formation of DI committee, committee meetings, releasing Minutes of the meetings, ensure the committee recommends flight testing without compromising safety of the Aircraft, closure of the DI Committee. As a FRRB member, he seeks the Flights clearance from DGCA for both HANSA and SARAS. For SARAS aircraft, he is responsible for clearing the aircraft for safe flight for EGRs, LSTTs, HSTTs, Flights. He ensures the Modification implementation on the aircraft He has made significant contributions for solving major snags of SARAS PT1N. He coordinates activities with DGAQA. He approves the Firms Quality Management System (AFQMS) to CSIR-NAL and up-keep of approvals. He is responsible for preparation of Inspection schedules. He successfully obtained the Production Organisation Approval to CSIR-NAL for HANSA-NG by DGCA, under CAR-21 Subpart ‘G’ for HANSA. He is also part of Subcommittees for Route to Certification activities.

Professional Training Experience: 

    • Attended training on CAR 21 POA, CAR 21 DOA, CAR 21 POA/DOA Auditing, CAR/EASA 145 Human Factors – 2009, 2013, 2018, 2019.
