Venkataramana,B.Shri.

Area of Expertise
1) Deposition of advanced thin films utilizing magnetron sputtering and cathodic arc techniques, aimed at enhancing solid particle erosion resistance, corrosion resistance, and solid lubrication performance in demanding environments.
2) Synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials and other nanostructured materials, with particular emphasis on their integration into sensor technologies and energy-related applications, such as energy storage and conversion systems."
Research Interests
Design and fabrication of high-performance thin films for solid lubricant coatings such as diamond-like carbon (DLC), and the engineering of hard, multilayered protective coatings (e.g., TiN, Ti/TiN, TiAlN, TiCrN, Cr/CrN) for critical components, including compressor blades and engineering tools. PVD-based corrosion-resistant coatings (e.g., Cr).
Synthesis of 2D materials and nanostructured materials through CVD and other solution-based chemical techniques for sensors and energy applications.
